Wales will welcome a record-breaking crowd when they host Slovenia at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 6 September with ticket sales having already surpassed the current record attendance.

Ticket sales for the Women’s World Cup qualifier have surged in the wake of a record-breaking UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, which received a total attendance of 574,875 across the tournament.

The current biggest crowd at a women’s international in Wales was set when 5,455 saw Gemma Grainger’s side beat Estonia 4-0 last October.

Wales captain Sophie Ingle has said that the squad are delighted that more people than ever will be supporting them during a crucial qualifier.

“I’m so excited that the Red Wall are turning out in their numbers to support us, making history and more noise once again in this World Cup qualifying campaign.

“It means the world to us as players, we couldn’t do what we do without you. The women’s game has had huge exposure with the recent EUROs, and we can’t wait to see the effect of that in the Cardiff City Stadium.

“Hopefully it will be a huge night for Welsh football as we look to reach the play-offs for the first time, we are more motivated than ever.”

With over a month to go until the fixture, the FAW look on track to hit their ambitious goal of 10,000 fans as they look to continue building The Red Wall.

Clubs and schools up and down the country have already engaged in the group booking scheme which offers tickets at a discounted price – Junior tickets from £2 and Adult tickets from £6 until Wednesday 24 August.

Cymru currently sit second in Group I and four points from their final two games – away to Greece and home against Slovenia – would secure a historic playoff spot.
