Cymru Premier odds 2022/23: Title favourites and relegation worries

The New Saints are being tipped to retain their Cymru Premier crown by some margin.

Craig Harrison’s side are clear favourites with bet365 to win Welsh football’s top prize, which would be their 15th crown.

The Saints won the league by 21-points last year, claiming the title back after Connah’s Quay had back-to-back league titles.

What do the odds say?

The New Saints lead the way at 1/20 whilst Bala Town, who finished second last year, are their closest rivals at 16/1.

It means that if you were to put a stake of £5.00 on Harrison’s side to lift the trophy, you’d get just 25p back. If you put the same bet on Bala, you’d get £85 back.

There isn’t too much change when it comes to the league table with Newtown tipped to finish third at 25/1 which last year got them a European spot.

Last season’s play-off winners Caernarfon Town, who will represent Wales in the SPFL Trust Trophy have been tipped to retain their place in the top six at 80/1.

Connah’s Quay Nomads, who were dealt a mammoth 18-point deduction over a player registration issue are tipped to bounce back with Neil Gibson’s men ranked at 100/1,

Flint Town United, who have seen a change in management with Lee Fowler taking over from Gibson, complete the top six at 150/1.

Both tied at 200/1, Aberystwyth Town now managed by former Cardiff Met assistant Anthony Williams and losing Welsh Cup finalists Penybont are tipped to just miss out on the top six.

Met themselves are also under a new manager with Ryan Jenkins making the step up from assistant after Christian Edwards moved upstairs to Director of Football.

That leaves us with three more teams – Airbus UK, Haverfordwest County, and Pontypridd United, all on 500/1.

The bookmakers believe all three are destined for the drop with the two newly promoted sides tipped for a one-season stint in the Welsh top flight.

The inclusion of Haverfordwest County is a shock despite the departure of manager Nicky Hayen, who departed for Club Brugge.

In came Tony Pennock, who was first-team coach at Hull City for the past few seasons, but sought an opportunity to become the head honcho at a club.
