Wales international set for Blackpool return after leaving Welsh club following Cup success
Connah’s Quay Nomads have been dealt a setback after Wales international defender Neal Eardley returned to Blackpool.
Eardley departs Deeside Stadium following a ten-month spell after joining in October 2021 after leaving Burton Albion.
The 33-year-old looks to be hanging up the boots after becoming the head coach of the Under-21s of one of his former clubs.
Eardley spent four seasons as a player at Bloomfield Road, playing a part in their Play-Off winning campaign back in 2010, where they beat Cardiff City.
He played a year in the Premier League, featuring 31 times before a further two seasons with them in the Championship following their relegation.
A statement published on Twitter read: Everyone at The Nomads would like to wish @Nidge_88 all the best for the future as he departs to take on a full-time role as @BlackpoolFC new Lead Professional Development Phase Coach.”
During his time with the Nomads, he won the Nathaniel MG Cup after defeating Cardiff Met on penalties in February.
The 16-capped Wales international made one league appearance this season, coming on as a substitute against Airbus UK for a two-minute cameo.
He was suspended for the opening day defeat to Cardiff Met and was an unused sub in the 2-1 defeat to The New Saints at Park Hall last Friday.
Eardley did not feature in the match-day squad for the midweek win over nine-man Bala Town. Neil Gibson’s side are currently seventh in the table after two wins and two defeats in their opening four Cymru Premier games.
