As-it-happened: Caernarfon Town 2-1 Aberystwyth Town

Caernarfon Town take all three points at home to Aberystwyth Town, after defending well to soak up the Aber Town pressure late on.

A brilliant overhead kick by Liverpool prospect Fidel O’Rourke put the Canaries in front midway through the first half, a lead that the home side deserved.

Aberystwyth never looked like impacting the score in the first half, with the away side only starting to apply any real pressure in the closing stages of the first half.

It took until the 73rd minute for the next goal, with substitute Lloyd Marsh-Hughes making an instant impact for the home side, who doubled their advantage.

The away side got a goal back with 10 minutes remaining, after an Aber corner was turned in by central defender Sam Litchfield, to give the Seasiders some hope.

However, Litchfield’s header would go on to be only a consolation, as Huw Griffiths’ side defended well to see out the victory, taking the home side up to fourth in the table.
