As-it-happened: Aberystwyth Town 4-1 Abergavenny Town

Aberystwyth Town Women host Abergavenny Town Women at Park Avenue in the Adran Premier.

The bottom two do battle for the second time this season with a win vital for either side’s ambitions this season. Josh Anderson’s side are rooted at the bottom of the table and have yet to pick up a point.

Aberystwyth have picked up four points from their opening seven matches with just one win which game against the Pennies on the opening day.

Libby Isaac and Rebecca Mathias were on target for Gavin Allen’s side that day as they survived Lisa Bird’s 80th-minute strike to hold on for the victory.

Both teams were victorious in the FAW Women’s Cup beating lower-league opposition. Gwenllian Jones and Amy Jenkins scored for Aberystwyth in the second half to defeat Connah’s Quay 2-0 at Deeside Stadium.

Abergavenny faced lowly Carmarthen Town at Pen-y-Pound Stadium and won their first match of the campaign. Lauren Boyd scored from the spot which was later followed by Eliza Atkins before the half was out. 16-year-old Gracie Grosvenor came off the bench to score her second goal in the space of a week to ensure the victory.
