Swansea City 1-1 Cardiff City: As it happened

Swansea City take on Cardiff City in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday afternoon in the Adran Premier.

With this match taking place at the Swansea.com Stadium, it’s a great chance for both sides to showcase their talents, but both will also know a win could do wonders for their season.

For the Swans, it feels like a win is a must at this stage of the season. Currently sitting second and five points behind the table topping Bluebirds, a win will make it a title race. Defeat, and the Swans will be languishing eight points behind their rivals. The positives for the home side is that goals have been flying in as of late. They scored five against Abergavenny, and in their last game, put six past Barry last weekend. Ceri Phillips will be hoping they can continue their scoring streak on Sunday.

That will be a difficult task against a Cardiff side who have conceded only four goals all season. The resolute defence has allowed their attackers to thrive, with the Bluebirds averaging almost 3.5 goals a game. They will also be well rested going into this game, having not played a game last weekend, but will certainly be buoyed by their last Adran Prem outing, a stunning 5-0 win away at Cardiff Met. Former Swan Rhianne Oakley is also on a good run of form, and she will certainly be looking to get revenge on her old side.

These two met in September and it was Cardiff who ran out 2-0 winners. Welsh wonderkid Phoebie Poole scored both goals that day, and Swansea were well beaten in the end. They will be hoping to set the record straight on Sunday, otherwise the Bluebirds and the title could be out of sight.
