As-it-happened: Haverfordwest County 1-1 Pontypridd United – Cymru Premier

Haverfordwest County entertain Pontypridd United at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium. It is the second-part of their festive double-header with first ground going to the Dragons.

Jack Wilson opened the scoring for the Bluebirds but Joe Evans equalised and then Dave Vincent put the hosts in front at the USW Sport Park. A penalty from Jordan Davies levelled things up but a calamitous error from Lee Idzi saw him kick the ball straight into the path of Clayton Green to score.

Haverfordwest have an outside chance of qualifying for the top six but trail sixth-placed Penybont by six points and will have played two games more than them. Caernarfon are below them also by just a point and also have two games in hand over them. As for Pontypridd, Aberystwyth’s crushing defeat to Newtown at Latham Park is a chance for them to get out of the relegation zone. Pontypridd are two points behind Aberystwyth but an away win would see them overtake them, and potentially go level on points with Flint Town United.

For form, Haverfordwest have lost three of their last five matches, winning just twice. All three defeats have come away from home, whilst their victories have been in front of their home supporters. As their run of form at home goes, they have secured five wins out of nine at home. Pontypridd struggle away from home and their only away win this season was at Airbus. Their win against Haverfordwest on Boxing Day was the first after four straight defeats. They’ve picked up just four points from a possible 24 on their travels.
