As-it-happened: Pontypridd United 0-2 Swansea City

Pontypridd United take on Swansea City in the Adran Premier on Wednesday night at the USW Sport Park.

This fixture was meant to be played at the end of December but was postponed due to poor weather. Now as the end of phase one looms, this fixture has taken on another level of significance.

For Ponty, a win is pivotal if they are to claim a spot in the Championship Group. A defeat in their last league game against TNS moved the Saints above the Dragons, and with TNS playing Abergavenny tonight too, James Fishlock’s side will know they need to win to keep the pressure on.

For the Swans, a win keeps the title race on. They currently sit eight points behind the Bluebirds, and this is their game in hand, therefore three points will make things very interesting heading into the Championship Group. Ceri Phillips’ side haven’t played a competitive game since December 4th, so they’ll be hoping rustiness isn’t an issue.

These two sides met at the start of October, and it was Swansea who ran out 4-0 winners that day. Goals from Jess Williams, Katy Hosford, Monet Legall and Ellie Lake secured a comfortable win for the Swans, will Ponty get their revenge?
