Teenager Cody Noonan rescued a point as Trefelin twice came from behind to draw with Goytre United in a derby match that saw seven yellow cards brandished.

Ben Cripps opened the scoring for Karl Lewis’ side but Trefelin got back on level terms through Ceri Williams five minutes later. Liam Hutchinson restored Goytre’s lead but 16 minutes from time 16-year-old Noonan scored his first goal at senior level.

Trefelin are in the relegation zone and are a point adrift of safety with Taffs Well to play Briton Ferry Llansawel later. Goytre United are two points above Trefelin with two more games played.

Cripps opened the scoring for the visitors as Josh Jones used his trickery to get to the byline and layup an easy assist for Cripps who was there to tap his cross home.

Minutes later, Captain Ceri Williams equalised for Trefelin with a towering header. It was one all inside 25 minutes

There was an uncountable amount of tackles going in and misplaced passes which made for a very tasty rivalry.

The second half started with a bang as just one minute in Josh Jones was brought down by Lucas Calvacante in the box. The referee pointed to the spot with zero hesitation.

Liam Hutchinson stepped up for the visitors. He sent the keeper the wrong way and placed it in the bottom right to get his side back in front.

Trefelin then survived an onslaught by Goytre United until Cody Noonan equalized for them again on the 74th minute. He found himself with space with the ball at point-blank range and made no mistake.

The nature of the game almost foreshadowed a red card but referee Thomas Bevan only issued yellows – and seven of them!

Both teams pushed for the winner. Jordan Edwards had a wonderful chance on the 82nd minute. Trefelin lost the ball deep in their half and the ball fell to a man in blue. With only the keeper to beat, Edwards saw his spectacularly saved by Calvacante.

In the 94th minute, Trefelin almost snatched it in incredible fashion. Mason Thomas cut in from the left 30 yards out and saw his curler rattle the crossbar. In the end a draw was the fair result.
