Matt Turner has thanked Aberystwyth Town after he returned to Cardiff City following the conclusion of the Cymru Premier season.

The 21-year-old joined the Seasiders on loan in January after Lewis Webb had returned to Swansea City and played a huge part in Aber’s dramatic survival push. Anthony Williams’ side remained in the Welsh top flight after beating Caernarfon Town 3-2, with Flint Town United relegated at their expense following a 3-2 defeat to Pontypridd United at the USW Sport Park.

Turner scored a last-gasp equaliser against relegation rivals Pontypridd earlier this month and kept two clean sheets during his time at Park Avenue. In total he made 13 appearances, earning two clean sheets and conceding 20 goals.

He tweeted: “Just want to say a massive thankyou to everyone at @AberystwythTown from the players, managers, coaches, volunteers and to all the fans who have made me feel so welcome. I take away wonderful and unforgettable memories and wish the club every success for the future.”

Turner is out-of-contract at the end of the season, having joined the Bluebirds on a two-year deal in September 2021. He was previously at Haverfordwest County and was once on the books of English Premier League Leeds United.
