Caernarfon Town have made a double swoop for recently released Wrexham pair Louis Lloyd and Ryan Austin.

Both players featured for Wrexham’s reserve squad but didn’t register a National League appearance for the club this season. They are two of three new arrivals announced in just over a Friday following Ben Maher’s move from the Cefn Druids. Adam Davies was the first summer arrival, joining from Airbus UK.

Lloyd – recently played for the Dragons in ‘The Soccer Tournament’ alongside the likes of Lee Trundle, Mark Howard, and Bala Town midfielder Paul Rutherford.

Lloyd – a centre-forward by trade, was at Connah’s Quay’s academy before joining Shrewsbury Town. he joined Wrexham in November 2022, and trained with the first-team several times, working alongside Paul Mullin.

“We’re looking for goals up top and I think Louis can help us in that department,” said manager Richard Davies about his newest arrival.”

Lloyd’s teammate Ryan Austin has also joined having spent the last two years on a professional deal with Wrexham. The 21-year-old is a centre-half but can also play in midfield.

Davies added: “I don’t think it’s been a secret that we’ve been searching for a big, strong centre half and Ryan definitely fits the bill.”

Austin and Lloyd aren’t the only players with a past with Wrexham that have been on the move this week. Newtown signed centurion Rob Evans after a spell with AFC Telford United. The 28-year-old made 121 appearances for Wrexham, registering seven goals and two assists from 2012 to 2017.

Penycae-born Evans had been at Telford United for a season-and-a-half and played 37 times last season in the National League North. He made the move to Latham Park along with Jason Oswell, who had a brief period at the Racecourse Ground but was blighted by injury.

“I’m delighted to add Robbie to our squad for next season,” said Robins boss Chris Hughes.

“I’ve spoken to lots of people about him and whilst they all say what a good player he is, they all talk about his character first and foremost.  Robbie’s a leader and will be a great addition to the dressing room.
