Barry Town appoint ex-Cardiff City, Swansea City, and Wales international as new manager

Barry Town today confirmed former Swansea City and Wales international Steve Jenkins will be the clubs new manager.
Jenkins takes over after Lee Kendall departed the club last week. He has since taken up a post at their Cymru Premier rivals Pontypridd United.
The 51-year-old has a wealth of experience as a player and manager having made over 160 appearances for Swansea City. He also played for Huddersfield Town, Swindon Town, and Newport County and was player assistant manager at Llanelli. During his playing career, he also picked up 16 caps for Wales.
His first coaching experience came during his time at Llanelli where he was assistant to Andy Legg. After Llanelli he became manager of Monmouth Town before a brief spell as assistant at Hereford United. He then took over as manager of his hometown club Merthyr Town but returned to Hereford, again as assistant. Jenkins was most recently assistant manager at Barnet.
Head of Coaching Damian Flynn has been in charge of the first team whilst the club have been searching for a permanent manager. Flynn will now revert back to his original role.
Barry’s new boss was in attendance as his team lost 2-1 to Aberystwyth Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup, despite taking the lead through Kayne McLaggon. Jenkins first game will be on August 12th as the Linnets head to Bala Town for their first game back in the Cymru Premier.
