Richie Ryan has announced that he has left his role as first-team manager of Cambrian & Clydach Vale.
He had been in charge of the Cymru South outfit for 10 months, having parted company with their league rivals Trefelin BGC.
His departure from the M&P Group 3G comes after his team were knocked out by Canton on penalties in the Welsh Cup. He leaves Cambrian in eighth – seven points off of league leaders Briton Ferry Llansawel.
“Today I have regrettably left my role as 1st team manager at Cambrian & Clydach,” posted Ryan on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
“I’d like to express my gratitude to Phil Williams and Anthony Coombes for giving me the opportunity in what has largely been an enjoyable experience.
“Looking forward to a short break from the game and whatever the next chapter may bring.”
His fellow Cymru South manager Garry Taylor – who manages Pontardawe Town – wished him well, and after his departure said: “Best of luck mate went in at a tough time and settled it down and was building a strong team.”
In response to Ryan’s statement, the club said on Wednesday: “Yesterday the club mutually agreed to part ways with manager Richie Ryan.
“The club would like to go on record and thank Richie for his hard work during his time with the club and wishes him all the very best moving forward.”
In other news, Cambrian have appointed Ceri Jones as their new chairman. He replaced Kevin Jones who stood down due to work commitments, and Ceri comes with experience at Ton Pentre, Pencoed BGC, and Tonyrefail Wanderers.
One of his first major acts in his new role will be to find a replacement for the departing Ryan. The Sky Blues have opted not to apply for the Tier One Licence, despite being successful with their applications in recent seasons.
