Clinical Taffs Well four unbeaten in seven after beating Llantwit Major

Taffs Well moved into sixth spot in the JD Cymru South after a 3-1 win over Llantwit Major at Lon Melin Wynt.

Joshua Pope give the visitors the lead in the first half added time after Llantwit keeper Ryley Allen had made some good saves to keep them at bay. Captain Vaughn Fowler added the second six minutes into the second half. Former Llantwit player Cameron Gauci made it 3-0 on 70 minutes leaving the host with a huge task. Charlie Hanson-Taylor headed a goal back in added time for Llantwit.

Taffs Well move into sixth place in the Cymru South while Llantwit remain in 14th place.


Llantwit made a bright start with Cai Rowlands hitting a shot over and Joel Woodington hitting a shot straight at Edward King.

Will Toms sent a corner to the far post where Fowler headed back across goal. Llantwit cleared but the ball fell to Ben Parry who tried a shot from the edge of the box but it went wide.

Tyler Jackson then had a chance for Llantwit when his shot from the edge of the box went just wide of the post.

The Welllmen started to take control and from a corner they had two shots blocked by the Llantwit defence. Llantwit were unable to fully clear and when the ball came to Harry Treharne he fired a shot that looked to be going in. Ryley Allen dived across the goal and with a strong hand turned the ball over the bar.

Treharne then had another chance this time Allen saving Treharne’s low shot to the right.

The goal did come though as the visitors pressure told. A good ball into the box found Joshua Pope in on goal and he calmly slotted the ball into the net.

Half Time: Llantwit Major 0-1 Taffs Well

The visitors doubled their lead six minutes into the second half. Captain Vaughn Fowler heading in from close range following a good cross into the six yard box.

Llantwit had a good chance to pull a goal back when Rob Jones corner fell to Joel Woodington. Woodington putting his shot wide of the target.

With Llantwit pushing forward Taffs were finding space in the Llantwit half. They worked the ball across the pitch to Cameron Gauci. Who then from the left corner of the box fired a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Mo Djalo headed down a high ball into the path of Matthew Kimmins who went for a shot. Edward king was out of his goal quickly to save from Kimmins.

Llantwit kept going and got a goal back in added time from sub Charlie Hanson-Taylor. It proved to late and Taffs Well picked up the win.
