Penybont struck Haverfordwest County with an early blow to close the gap on the top of the Cymru Premier Play-Off Conference.

An early Lewys Ware goal saw the Bont go too within a point of the Bluebirds

Ware was able to capitalise on a rebound from Keyon Reffel’s shot after just eight minutes to see the visitors to victory and to reduce the gap between Bont and County to just one point.

Haverfordwest County offered very little in terms of chances. The early encounters saw Kane Owen strike two thunderous shots from distance, both narrowly wide.

Haverfordwest did have the ball in the back of the net, however the referees whistle was soon to follow. Bont goalkeeper Adam Przybek was judged to have been fouled and the goal did not stand.

The second half saw very little action. A rare effort at goal came from Jonathan Brown, whose tame effort rolled through to County’s Zac Jones in goal, who was able to collect with ease.

Martell Taylor-Crossdale and Dan Hawkins both had chances to draw County level, with the latter forcing a spectacular save from Przbyek in the Penybont goal from less than five yards.

Jack Wilson also tried latching onto the end of a Jazz Richards cross, however goal-scorer Lewis Ware turned goal-saver as he blocks Wilson’s goal bound shot.

Penybont did however manage to see the match out and the result means they close the gap at the top of the JD Cymru Premier Conference to just one point.

Haverfordwest face Aberystwyth Town at home on the 15th of March, whilst Penybont are home to Colwyn Bay the day after.
