Haverfordwest County have confirmed that Ben Fawcett will be leaving the club, bringing an end to a memorable chapter with the JD Cymru Premier club.

The 25-year-old attacker played his final home match at the Ogi Bridge Meadow on Saturday, marking the occasion perfectly by getting on the scoresheet in a 3–0 victory over Llanelli Town. The result was celebrated in front of almost 1,000 supporters, providing a fitting send-off for one of the club’s most loyal servants.

Fawcett is set to move to Australia, bringing to an end the chapter of his life that has been closely tied to Haverfordwest County since his teenage years. He hasn’t closed the door entirely, though, on returning to the West Wales club.

Ben Fawcett’s goodbye to Haverfordwest County

Speaking to the club’s official media, he reflected on his journey:

“I wish the boys all the best,” he said. The first European tour and the second, they are memories that are going to stay with me for my whole life. The debut I made at 18, it’s my eighth season.

It’s time to maybe move on but I’ve loved every minute of it. It’s a different opportunity and I’m going to see what happens. You never know, you might see me back here.”

A product of the club’s academy, Fawcett made his senior debut at just 18 years old and went on to establish himself as a key figure in the squad. He played a significant role in Haverfordwest County’s promotion from the JD Cymru South in 2020 and was also part of the side that enjoyed memorable European campaigns in recent seasons.

He made a seamless transition to the JD Cymru Premier, scoring seven goals in his first season at that level. That momentum carried into the 2022–23 campaign, where eight league goals earned him recognition with a call-up to the Wales C international squad and involvement in a memorable 4-0 win over England C in Caernarfon.

His impact was felt on the European stage in the summer of 2023, as he became one of just four players to score in continental competition for the club, levelling the tie against B36 Tórshavn at the Cardiff City Stadium in the UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round, before a narrow 3-2 extra-time defeat.

Fawcett departs the club having made over 200 appearances and scored more than 50 goals in all competitions, a remarkable achievement that underlines his importance to the Bluebirds over the years.
