Penybont have continued their summer recruitment drive with the additions of defenders Morgan Weaver and Dan Jefferies, completing a busy day of transfer activity following the earlier signing of midfielder Marinho Manga.

Rhys Griffiths is continuing to reshape his squad ahead of the new Cymru Premier season after guiding the club to another successful campaign and securing European qualification.

Morgan Weaver Adds Defensive Depth

Defender Morgan Weaver arrives at Penybont with valuable experience across the Welsh football pyramid.

The defender has previously featured for Llanelli Town, Pontardawe Town and Carmarthen Town, where he was a regular during the 2025/26 Cymru South campaign.

Weaver made 25 league appearances for Carmarthen last season as the club secured a fifth-place finish, and his arrival is expected to strengthen Penybont’s defensive options heading into the new campaign.

Dan Jefferies Returns To Penybont

Dan Jefferies also joins the club, bringing significant Cymru Premier experience back to the squad.

Jefferies previously spent five seasons at Penybont before departing for Briton Ferry last season. During his time with Andy Dyer’s side, he made eight league appearances.

His return provides additional experience and familiarity within the squad as Penybont prepare for domestic and European competition.

Marinho Manga Makes Step Up From Cardiff Draconians

Earlier in the day, Penybont confirmed the signing of midfielder Marinho Manga from Cymru South side Cardiff Draconians.

The 26-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the standout midfielders in the division following several impressive seasons with the Dracs.

Manga leaves Cardiff Draconians after making 99 appearances, scoring three goals and registering 10 assists during his spell at the club.

The midfielder was also in contention for the Cymru South Team of the Season and recently featured in UEFA Regions Cup qualifiers.

Before joining Penybont, Manga also played for Taffs Well and worked under experienced manager Nana Baah at Treharris Athletic Western, where his development accelerated.

His arrival comes following the departure of Clayton Green, with Penybont looking to strengthen their midfield options ahead of another demanding season.

Clayton Green Among Key Departures

Alongside the new arrivals, Penybont have confirmed several departures as the squad undergoes significant changes this summer.

Midfielder Clayton Green will leave the club after joining from Pontypridd United in the summer of 2024. During his time at Penybont, Green made 72 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

He also captained the side during their UEFA Conference League qualifying campaign and missed just one league match throughout the season.

Goalkeeper Archie Matthews has also departed after making 13 appearances and keeping five clean sheets during his spell at the club.

The departures follow the exit of long-serving veteran Kane Owen after a decade of service, marking a significant transition period for the Bridgend club as preparations continue for the new season
