Two Wales youth internationals have experienced contrasting fortunes at Liverpool this summer.
Terence Miles is set to depart Anfield, while the Reds have offered new terms to Prince Kobe Cisse as they look to secure his long-term future at the club.
Both players have represented Wales at international level, but while one is preparing for a new chapter away from Merseyside, Liverpool is working to ensure the other remains part of their plans.
Miles departs Liverpool after 14-years
Miles’ exit brings to an end a 14-year association with the club, during which he captained Liverpool’s U21 side under former Wales manager Rob Page.
The defender earned one cap for the Wales Under-21 side in March 2024, featuring in a 2-0 defeat to Morocco Under-23s. He had been an unused substitute in the previous match against Lithuania four days earlier.
Announcing his departure on Instagram on May 23, Miles wrote:
“Joined as a baby, today leave a man. Fourteen unbelievable years at a club that I grew up supporting and following all my life sadly now comes to an end.
Thank you to every staff member, teammate and my family for making the journey so special and helping me become the player and person I am today. Wishing everyone nothing but the best. YNWA.”
Several players responded to the post, including Lewis Koumas, who commented: “All the best Tez”, while Cardiff City’s Joel Colwill added: “All the best mate.”
New deal on table for Djibril Cissé’s son
Liverpool confirmed their retained list on June 9, with the club revealing that defender Kobe Cisse has been offered a professional contract.
The teenager captained Liverpool’s Under-18 side during the 2024/25 season and, unlike his father, former striker Djibril Cisse, operates at centre-back rather than centre-forward.
Cisse is also a Wales youth international, having represented the country at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels.
Born in Chester, he qualifies for Wales through his mother and is also eligible to represent England and France.
Having signed scholarship terms with Liverpool in July 2024, Cisse has now been offered professional terms following the completion of his scholarship programme.
