Welsh Cup, first qualifying round draw: How to watch, ball numbers, fixture date as Prestatyn Town, Port Talbot Town, Llanberis and Taffs Well enter

The Welsh Cup gets underway again this month, with the first qualifying round draw taking place this week.

It has been 12 weeks since Caernarfon Town lifted the trophy for the first time, defeating Flint Town United at Newport County’s Rodney Parade in front of a crowd of more than 2,000 spectators.

As a result of their historic triumph, the Cofis are now competing in the UEFA Conference League, where they face Estonian side FCI Levadia Tallinn. European qualification is the prize for the club that lifts one of Welsh football’s most prestigious trophies, so which team will begin dreaming of following in Caernarfon’s footsteps in 2026/27?

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) says a record 284 clubs have entered this season’s competition, making it one of the largest editions in the tournament’s long history.

Where can I watch the Welsh Cup first qualifying round draw?

Supporters will be able to watch the draw live on the new streaming platform Cymru Football TV.

Cymru Football TV is the new home of Welsh football, streaming every 2026/27 Cymru Premier match. The platform is also showing UEFA Conference League qualifiers and is offering a 14-day free trial to supporters who subscribe before Sunday, 12 July.

Click the link here, which will lead you directly to the Welsh Cup first round qualifying draw.

When will the Welsh Cup first qualifying round ties take place?

The first qualifying round ties will be played across the weekend of 24–26 July.

For most clubs, these fixtures will mark their first competitive matches of the 2026/27 season, with the Ardal Leagues and Cymru Leagues campaigns getting underway the following weekend.

Which clubs are in the Welsh Cup first qualifying round draw?

A total of 232 clubs will feature in the first qualifying round, with 100 teams from the North and 132 from the South.

Several finalists are involved in the earliest stages of the competition.

Depending on how you view a club’s history, Llansantffraid Village — which later became The New Saints — is back as a club in the village. When they competed as Llansantffraid, they reached the 1995/96 final, defeating Barry Town on penalties.

Prestatyn Town, who beat Bangor City 3-1 at the Racecourse Ground in the 2012/13 final, are also involved, along with five-time winners Chirk AAA. Port Talbot Town have never lifted the trophy, but they did reach the final in 2010.

To regionalise the draw and minimise travel, the clubs have been divided into four separate pots.
