Cymru South table predicted with Aberystwyth Town, Afan Lido, and Pure Swansea verdicts

The wait is over. The 2026-27 Cymru South season begins tonight (Friday, July 31), with DragonBet’s outright title odds highlighting what promises to be one of the most competitive campaigns in recent years.
There is a double-header on the opening night, with Llanelli Town hosting Newport City, while Baglan Dragons travel to face Trethomas Bluebirds.
Newport City begin the campaign under a new management team, with former Newport County player Robbie Willmott taking charge. It has been a summer of transition at the club, with several players departing, but Willmott has responded by recruiting some of the standout talent from the Ardal South East.

Caerau Ely lead the way after promotion heartbreak
After narrowly missing out on promotion last season, Caerau Ely begin the new campaign as 5/2 favourites to finally secure a return to the Cymru Premier.
The Cardiff West outfit came agonisingly close last term and will be hoping that experience can help them go one step further this time around. They have strengthened their squad with the addition of experienced midfielder Lewis Harling from league rivals Carmarthen Town, adding further leadership to a side already capable of competing at the top end of the division.
Aberystwyth Town aim for immediate Cymru Premier return
Close behind Caerau are Aberystwyth Town, priced at 3/1 by DragonBet.
The Seasiders have taken a different approach to recruitment this summer, focusing on experienced players with proven Cymru South and Mid Wales pedigree.
Manager Craig Williams has brought in Dan Owen and Tomos Evans from Penrhyncoch, while Harry Cottam and Dillon Browne have arrived from Caersws.

Promoted clubs looking to make an impact
Among the newly promoted sides, Pure Swansea are considered the strongest outsiders at 13/2 after being crowned Ardal South West champions.
Caerphilly Athletic have also seen their expectations change dramatically. Initially viewed by many as relegation candidates, the Ardal South East champions are now priced at 10/1, with DragonBet suggesting they could push towards a comfortable mid-table finish.
Pontardawe Town, who reached the Cymru South through the play-offs after defeating Cwmbran Town, face a tougher challenge and are priced at 33/1.

Caerau Ely have moved to the front of the market at 5/2, while Aberystwyth Town remain close behind at 3/1 after a busy summer of recruitment. Pontypridd United have drifted slightly to 5/1with Afan Lido overtaking them, who have now entered the leading group at 9/2.
The biggest change comes with Cardiff Draconians, who have seen their odds move dramatically. Previously priced at 8/1 and viewed as potential top-four contenders, they are now out at 20/1, reflecting a significant drop in expectations.
Caerphilly Athletic have gone the opposite way. Initially priced at 16/1 following promotion from the Ardal South East, they have shortened to 10/1 after an impressive summer and growing belief that they can compete at Cymru South level.
