The Welsh Cup returns this weekend with an intriguing all-Ardal South West showdown as Evans & Williams take on Port Talbot Town, with both sides looking to continue their progress in one of Welsh football’s most historic competitions.
The two sides have both enjoyed encouraging results in recent weeks and will head into Saturday’s tie with confidence. There is plenty at stake too, with a place in the first round proper of the Welsh Cup awaiting the winner, with Cymru South sides entering at the next stage.

Evans & Williams and Port Talbot Town’s recent form
Port Talbot Town will arrive in Llanelli with confidence after making a positive start to their campaign. The Steelmen defeated Seven Sisters Onllwyn 1-0 in their most recent Ardal South West outing on August 7, having also beaten Blaen-y-Maes in the FAW Amateur Trophy.
Richie Ryan’s side were held to a 2-2 draw by Ynysygerwn in the league, but their Welsh Cup campaign began emphatically as they swept aside Brynna 4-0. Jordan Edwards, James Dolman, Cameron Williams and Christian Allen were all on target in that victory.
Evans & Williams are also in good form heading into the meeting and will be hoping their attacking threat can carry them into the next round. They recorded a convincing 5-1 victory over Cardiff Corinthians in their most recent game, with Kieran Burder producing an outstanding display as he scored once and provided two assists. Captain Steffan Vincent also contributed two assists as Evans & Williams put five past their opponents.
Their Welsh Cup run has already produced another impressive result, with Evans & Williams beating AFC Penrhiwceiber to reach this stage. Robert Owens, Dylan Ashford and Elliot Jones were among the scorers, but it was Will Evans who stole the show with a superb individual performance, scoring twice and setting up two more goals.
