Barry Town United part with manager after just two games

Barry Town United have parted company with manager James Fishlock and his assistant Jonathan Spyropoulos, bringing Fishlock’s 11-month spell at Jenner Park Stadium to an end.
The decision comes after Barry suffered back-to-back defeats this term, including a heavy 9-1 loss to The New Saints last Sunday.
Barry Town United sack James Fishlock after difficult start
Fishlock was appointed in October 2025, replacing Stevie McCarthy-Campbell, who subsequently took over at Gwalia United.
During his time in charge, Fishlock guided Barry Town United to a fifth-place finish last season.
The manager had previously achieved a fifth-place finish with Pontypridd United in the Adran Premier during the 2022/23 season.
However, Barry have endured a difficult start to the current campaign, with successive defeats culminating in Sunday’s 9-1 loss to The New Saints.
The result has now been followed by the club’s decision to bring Fishlock’s tenure to a close, with Spyropoulos also leaving his role.
Barry Town Women confirmed the changes in a statement, thanking both members of the coaching staff for their work during their time at the club.
The club said: “We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to James for his hard work, dedication, and professionalism during his time in charge.
“Furthermore, we would like to thank Jon for all his efforts and commitment during his period at the club.
“Everyone at Barry Town Utd Women wishes both James and Jon the very best for the future.
“The club will make an announcement on a successor in due course. No further comment will be made at this time.”
James Fishlock leaves Barry Town as assistant, also released
A report from Harry Ware at Cymru Sport said that Assistant Manager Jonathan Spyropoulos has been released despite interest in an interim role.
According to the report, the decision was made to ensure a clean slate for the new management team.
The departure means Barry Town United are now looking for a successor to Fishlock following his spell in charge at Jenner Park Stadium.
Fishlock leaves the club after 11 months, having taken over in October 2025 and led the side to fifth place last season.
The club has confirmed that an announcement on a successor will be made in due course.
