The big Adran Leagues winners as Wrexham, TNS and Cascade make headlines

The Adran Leagues produced another weekend of goals and drama, with the Adran Premier continuing to deliver plenty of talking points as the campaign gathers pace.

Wrexham and The New Saints both hit the headlines with big wins, while Cardiff City also picked up three points against Barry Town United. Cardiff Met, meanwhile, marked their return to the top flight with their first victory since promotion.

Away from the Premier, the Adran South got underway this weekend, with several eye-catching results and some big scorelines across the division.

There was also one game in the Adran North, where newly promoted Wrexham Foresters made a winning start against Berriew.

Here’s a look at all the key results and talking points from across the Adran Premier, North and South.

Adran Premier: Cardiff City, Wrexham and TNS among the goals

Cardiff City went in front against Barry Town United as Mia Malone marked her first start for the Bluebirds with the opening goal.

A swift break forward saw Lily Walklett find Lily Billingham, whose low cross was fired in by Malone.

Cardiff then doubled their advantage when Billingham played a brilliant ball through for Mackenzie Olden, whose low delivery was swept home by Ffion Price.

Indie Shanahan pulled a goal back for Barry, but Cardiff restored their two-goal advantage through Haile Richards before Gillian Keenan added a fourth to complete a 4-1 victory.

Wrexham also enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as they cruised to an 8-1 win against Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Natasha Thomas and Katie Barker put the visitors 2-0 up, with two Faye Knox assists, before Katy Hosford reduced the deficit.

Barker restored Wrexham’s advantage from the spot, before Lili Mai Jones added another nine minutes before half-time.

Thomas would get her second after Maria Francis-Jones got on the scoresheet following another Knox assist, before Barker completed her hat-trick in the 69th minute. Thomas also completed her treble, netting nine minutes from time.

Cardiff Met also claimed their first victory since promotion.

Aberystwyth Town took the lead in the fourth minute through Sioned Kersey, but Celyn Garton levelled for the Archers two minutes before the half-time whistle. Faith Mulenga then put Met in front with 20 minutes remaining.

TNS edge Swansea City in seven-goal thriller

The most entertaining match of the weekend saw The New Saints beat Swansea City 4-3 in a game which produced several changes of momentum.

TNS raced into a 2-0 lead after Fiona Barry and Abbie Iddenden found the net, before Chloe Chivers reduced the deficit in the 38th minute.

Swansea drew level early in the second half, with Chivers supplying Aimee Deacon before then turning the game on its head by putting Swansea in front.

The lead would be short-lived, however, as Iddenden scored an equaliser.

There was still time for one final twist as Fiona Barry scored in the fourth minute of added time to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory for TNS.

Adran North: Wrexham Foresters make winning league start

Newly promoted Wrexham Foresters defeated Berriew as summer signing Maizie Johnson scored on her league debut at Stansty Park.

Johnson joined Forest from Wrexham and had already been in good form for her new side, scoring in an Adran Trophy defeat against Connah’s Quay Nomads before providing three assists against Llandudno.

She turned provider against Berriew, setting up Kirsty Kural in the second half, before 18-year-old Savannah Miller wrapped up the win with an 86th-minute penalty.

In the Adran Trophy, Llanfair United Ladies also claimed victory against Bangor City.

Llanfair led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a Mary Bailey goal in the third minute of added time. Williams doubled the advantage on the hour mark after an assist from Harriet Davies, before Paris Schofield and substitute Tania Wylde also found the net.

Adran South produces goals galore as Nicole Fenton haunts Pontypridd

Cascade raced into a 5-1 lead against Pontypridd United at USW Sport Park, with all five of their goals coming inside the opening 30 minutes.

Ellis Lunn opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Crane pulled one back for Pontypridd in the 12th minute to make it 3-1.

Trinity Reakes was also on target for Cascade, while former Pontypridd attacker Nicole Fenton scored against her old side. Chrystalla Moreton then restored Cascade’s three-goal advantage before Lunn completed her brace in the 30th minute.

Fenton and Ffion Simmonds both provided two assists during a dominant opening half for Cascade, with Moreton also turning provider later in the game.

Pontypridd were able to add a second after the break, but there was never any real prospect of a comeback as Cascade continued to pile on the pressure.

Lisa Owen added Cascade’s seventh in the 53rd minute to make it 7-2, before Moreton struck again on the hour mark.

Fenton then capped off an outstanding individual performance by completing her hat-trick in the 78th minute.

The former Pontypridd attacker finished the afternoon with three goals and two assists as Cascade ran out 9-2 winners in a hugely impressive start to their Adran South campaign.

Penybont also came through a high-scoring contest, beating newly promoted Cambrian United 5-3.

Mae Taylor opened the scoring before Megan-Ruby Clarke took centre stage with a first-half hat-trick.

Layla Williams supplied two assists as Penybont established a commanding lead.

Niamh Duggan pulled one back for Cambrian before substitute Spear made an immediate impact after coming on at half-time, scoring just four minutes after entering the pitch to make it 4-2.

Clarke then turned provider, supplying Mikaela Hood for Penybont’s fifth in the 69th minute.

Kelly Isaac scored two minutes from time to give Cambrian hope, but Penybont held on for the victory.

Pure Swansea complete comeback against Carmarthen

Pure Swansea came from behind to beat Carmarthen Town after a dramatic second half.

Carmarthen led 1-0 at the break after Flavia Jenkins scored in the eighth minute, with her sister Ophelia Jenkins providing the assist.

Rianne Jones levelled three minutes into the second half for Pure Swansea following her move from Taffs Well.

Jones then completed a remarkable four-minute spell by scoring twice more, finding the net in the 67th and 71st minutes.

All three of Jones’ goals were assisted by Poppy Brown.

Elliw Williams scored with four minutes remaining, but Pure Swansea held on for victory.

Llanrumney United make Welsh Cup statement

Away from the Adran South, newly promoted Llanrumney United progressed in the Welsh Cup with a convincing 9-0 victory over Thornhill.

Llanrumney led 5-0 at half-time, with Mia Pole scoring twice while Charley Hocking and Rebecca Lane were also on target.

Substitute Jodie Newman replaced Hocking and scored within four minutes of coming on.

She added another in the 72nd minute, while Heather Wearmouth also scored twice to complete the 9-0 win.
