We’ve ranked the Cymru South clubs by the approximate distance between their home ground and the nearest train station, revealing which teams are among the easiest to reach by rail.

The clubs closest to a train station

At the top of the list are several clubs where the railway station is less than half a mile from the ground.

Aberystwyth Town is around 0.3 miles from Aberystwyth station, while Baglan Dragons are a similar distance from Baglan station.

Carmarthen Town is even closer, with the club’s ground approximately 0.2 miles from Carmarthen station.

Also among the most accessible are Llantwit Major, at around 0.4 miles from Llantwit Major station, and Pontypridd United, whose ground is approximately 0.3 miles from Treforest Estate station.

Treowen Stars are another club within roughly 0.3 miles of Newbridge station.

Cymru South clubs within a mile of a station

A number of other clubs are still comfortably within walking distance of a railway station, although the journey is a little longer.

Caerphilly Athletic and Trethomas Bluebirds are both around 0.6 miles from Ystrad Mynach station, while Ynyshir Albions are approximately 0.8 miles from Porth station.

Cardiff Draconians are around 0.9 miles from Llandaf/Danescourt, with Llanelli Town also approximately 0.9 miles from Llanelli station.

The longest walks from the railway

At the other end of the rankings, some Cymru South grounds are considerably further from their nearest station.

Pontardawe Town has the longest distance on the list, at approximately 3.9 miles from Skewen station.

Pure Swansea is around 2.5 miles from Swansea station, while Newport City is approximately 1.9 miles from Newport station.

Caerau Ely is around 1.8 miles from Waun-gron Park station, and Afan Lido is approximately 1.3 miles from Port Talbot Parkway.

These distances mean supporters may want to check onward bus connections or consider a taxi for the final part of the journey.
