Cardiff Corries have strengthened their squad with the signings of Ethan Akram and Nick Anderson.

Akram joins from Cardiff rivals Canton, while Anderson has impressed during a two-week training spell with the club before completing his move.

The double addition comes with Corries sitting 13th in the 16-team league and preparing for a short trip across the city to face Clwb Cymric in the FAW Amateur Trophy.

Akram arrives from Cardiff rivals Canton

The 21-year-old Akram made seven appearances for Canton across all competitions this season, with his most recent outing coming in Friday’s 1-0 defeat to Penrhiwceiber Rangers.

He has previously played for Caerau Ely, Cardiff Draconians and Pontypridd United, while he featured 22 times in the Ardal South East for Canton last season.

Akram contributed three goals and three assists during that campaign and now makes the switch to Corries as the club looks to strengthen its options at the back.

Corries said: “Ethan is an experienced player at this level and will bring some much-needed defensive stability to our back line.

“His versatility will also be a huge asset to the squad, giving us some valuable options. We’re really pleased to have him on board.”

Canton boss Daniel Tanhai also sent his best wishes to Akram following his departure.

He said: “Best wishes, Ethan – been brilliant for us and sorry to see you go.

“Always welcome back if things don’t work out for you, fella – top family too!”

Anderson makes impression during training spell

Corries have also brought in Anderson after he spent the last two weeks training with the club.

His performances in training were enough to convince the club to make the move permanent, with Corries praising his technical ability and decision-making.

The club said: “He’s composed on the ball, has excellent feet and shows great decision-making skills. He looks to be a fantastic find for the club!”

The two signings give Corries additional options as they look to improve their league position and continue their cup campaigns.

Cardiff Corries handed Welsh Cup tie against Haverfordwest County

Cardiff Corries have been handed a difficult Welsh Cup assignment after being drawn against Cymru Premier side Haverfordwest County.

The tie is scheduled to take place on October 16-17.

Cardiff Corries booked their place in the next round by defeating South West rivals South Gower, setting up a meeting with the top-flight club.

Before that Welsh Cup fixture, their attention turns to the Amateur Trophy and a short journey across Cardiff to face Clwb Cymric this Saturday (October 3).

Corries currently sit 13th out of 16 teams in the league, meaning the club will be hoping the arrival of Akram and Anderson can provide a boost as the season develops.
