The Cymru Leagues are enjoying a significant boost in attendances this season, and the numbers are already comfortably ahead of last year’s figures.

Seventeen matches across the Cymru leagues in the Cymru Premier and Cymru North have attracted crowds of at least 1,000 during the opening stages of the 2026-27 campaign.

That has already beaten the number of four-figure crowds recorded in the Cymru Premier throughout the whole of last season.

There were nine Cymru Premier matches with attendances of 1,000 or more last term.

This season, that figure has already been surpassed, with strong support being seen at grounds across both the Cymru Premier and Cymru North.

The emergence of newer clubs and the return of established names with strong local support have helped provide a boost to attendances.

Penybont and Colwyn Bay have attracted the biggest crowds

The biggest crowd of the season so far came at Penybont, where 2,666 supporters watched the Cymru Premier fixture against Airbus UK Broughton.

Colwyn Bay have also been a major draw, with their home meeting with Llandudno attracting 2,037.

They feature heavily in the list, with six of their Cymru Premier fixtures attracting at least 1,000 supporters.

Caernarfon Town have also recorded a series of impressive attendances, including crowds of 1,392 against The New Saints, 1,379 against Penybont and 1,352 against Colwyn Bay.

Cymru North clubs are also pulling in four-figure crowds

The strong numbers have not been limited to the top flight.

Bangor City 1876 have attracted 1,334 for their Cymru North meeting with Bala Town and 1,201 for the visit of Rhyl 1879.

There was also a crowd of 1,078 at Holyhead Hotspur for their Cymru North fixture against Bangor City 1876.

Those attendances underline the support available to clubs outside the Cymru Premier, particularly when established names with sizeable local followings meet.

Cymru South is still waiting for its first 1,000 crowd

The Cymru South is yet to produce a four-figure attendance this season.

Trethomas Bluebirds came closest among the figures supplied, with 810 supporters attending their match against Caerphilly Athletic.

There is still plenty of the campaign to go, however, and the 1,000 mark could yet be reached in the Cymru South.

That is already comfortably beyond the nine Cymru Premier matches which reached the same mark throughout the whole of last season, suggesting there could be plenty more big crowds to come as the 2026-27 campaign develops.
