Chepstow Town moved to the top of the Ardal South East table after a commanding victory over Caldicot Town, taking full advantage of their opportunities to secure an impressive win.
The three points see Chepstow climb above their rivals and move one point clear at the summit, strengthening their position in the promotion race.
Chris Ham opened the scoring for Chepstow in the first half before doubling his tally to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at the break. Iestyn Davies added a third early in the second half to put Chepstow firmly in control and help secure a comprehensive victory.
Marc Ingles’ side started brightly and applied pressure from the outset, repeatedly exploiting the flanks to deliver dangerous balls into the Caldicot penalty area. Their early dominance paid off when Lewis Grant allowed too much space down the left, enabling Mike Murphy to deliver an excellent cross for Ham, who rose to head home the opener.
The visitors continued to look the more threatening side, with Sonny Lewis and Sam Broadribb also causing problems for the Caldicot defence. Sam Broadribb nearly capitalised on a defensive lapse when he closed down a hesitant defender, but goalkeeper Mathew Sandiford reacted quickly to rush off his line and clear the danger.
Caldicot struggled to gain a foothold in the contest but gradually created a few opportunities of their own. Captain Matthew James came closest when he rose highest to meet a free-kick, only to send his powerful header over the crossbar. Adam Wakley also attempted an ambitious bicycle kick following a series of headers from James, although his effort lacked the power to trouble the Chepstow goalkeeper.
However, Chepstow’s attacking pressure continued to tell. Murphy remained a constant threat from wide areas, and another dangerous low cross caused panic in the Caldicot defence. The hosts failed to deal with the delivery, almost turning the ball into their own net, before Ham reacted quickest to score from close range and claim his second of the afternoon.
Caldicot showed occasional promise going forward, particularly through Kobi Preston-Watkins, but their attacks lacked the consistency and cutting edge of their opponents. Chepstow’s greater intensity, effective use of the wide areas and sharper movement in the final third had made the difference.

At the interval, Chepstow deservedly held a two-goal advantage, while Caldicot faced a significant challenge to turn the contest around in the second half.
Caldicot produced a superb defensive block to deny Chepstow a third goal. Sam Broadribb got the better of Matt Swann before cutting the ball back for Sonny Lewis, but substitute Alex Edwards threw himself in front of the effort to make a crucial intervention and keep the visitors at bay.
The score would soon be 3-0, however. Iestyn Davies found himself unmarked in the perfect position to meet Sonny Lewis’ corner ball with a header, leaving Caldicot Town with a mountain to climb.
Caldicot had a handful of half-chances after Iestyn Davies’ early second-half goal, with Jake Davies and Kobi Preston-Watkins both testing Chepstow’s defence. Preston-Watkins looked increasingly threatening.
Chepstow also threatened through Lewis Bamford and Sonny Lewis, but Caldicot goalkeeper Mathew Sandiford kept out a low effort from Lewis. Despite some promising moments for the hosts, clear-cut chances were limited as Chepstow managed the game well.
