Rhyl are continuing their search for a new first-team manager after parting company with Paul Moore, with the club setting a deadline for interested applicants as they look to turn their Cymru North season around

Moore left his position on October 10 after leading the Lilywhites to promotion to the Cymru North in 2025 and a run to the semi-finals of the FAW Welsh Cup last season.

However, Rhyl have struggled for consistency in the league this term, winning just two of their first 10 matches and slipping towards the wrong end of the table.

The club advertised the vacant position on October 11, outlining the qualities and experience they want from their next appointment.

Interested applicants have until 9pm on Friday, October 23, 2026, to contact the club. The deadline falls on the same evening Rhyl are scheduled to face Newtown, adding another significant date to a crucial period for the club.

No caretaker manager has been named by Rhyl, leaving questions over who will take charge of the first team during the ongoing search. The club were knocked out of the Welsh Cup by Brickfield Rangers, allowing them to go a week without playing a match, and identify a successor.

Rhyl face crucial run of Cymru North fixtures amid managerial search

Rhyl’s managerial vacancy comes at a difficult point in their campaign, with the club currently sitting 11th in the Cymru North table, just two points above the relegation zone.

With the season continuing to gather pace, the Lilywhites have several important fixtures approaching that could prove significant in determining their position in the division.

A trip to Mold Alexandra is among the challenges awaiting Rhyl, with their opponents having recently beaten league leaders Brickfield Rangers.

Matches against Holyhead Hotspur, Penrhyncoch and Gresford Athletic are also on the horizon, with Gresford among the sides positioned just below Rhyl in the table.

Those fixtures could provide an opportunity for the Lilywhites to create some breathing space between themselves and the relegation places, but they will need to improve their results if they are to move up the standings.

The club will be hoping to appoint the right candidate to lead that turnaround while ensuring their longer-term ambitions remain on track.

What are Rhyl looking for in their next manager?

Rhyl have set out a detailed list of requirements for their next first-team manager, making clear that the successful candidate will need to bring more than just experience in the dugout.

Applicants must hold a minimum FAW or UEFA B coaching licence and be working towards an A licence. The club is also looking for someone with a passion for football, an in-depth knowledge of the game and experience of leading a promoted team.

Knowledge of both the Cymru North and the Welsh top flight, including an understanding of the available player talent, is another key requirement as Rhyl look to build a team capable of challenging for promotion.

The advertisement also places significant emphasis on leadership, organisation and communication, with the successful applicant expected to develop a committed, high-performing squad while engaging with all areas of the club.

Youth development is another important part of the role. Rhyl want a manager who is experienced in supporting local youth football and can help strengthen the pathway into the first team.

The club’s advert states: “We are seeking to recruit a proven winner with commitment, footballing knowledge, impeccable standards and second to none self-motivation to take on the exciting position in becoming the first team manager of CPD Y Rhyl 1879.”

It adds that the successful applicant must be capable of delivering high-performance player development and match-winning performances, while also being a credible coach across North Wales and the North West.

The role will also involve work away from the pitch, with the manager expected to support the club’s commercial requirements and contribute to its wider ambitions.

Asa Hamilton linked with potential return after social media exchange

Speculation over who could replace Moore has also emerged on social media, with former Buckley Town manager Asa Hamilton the subject of one exchange.

Hamilton left his position at Buckley Town this summer, and an X user responded to his departure by suggesting a possible return to Rhyl.

The user wrote: “Fancy a return lad,” to which Hamilton responded with a black and yellow heart emoji.

The exchange has prompted interest, but it does not confirm that Hamilton has applied for the vacancy or that he is being considered by Rhyl.
