Former Wales international Steve Morison is reportedly in line to replace Colin Kazim-Richards as Crawley Town’s next manager, with the League Two club identifying the ex-Cardiff City boss as a leading contender.

According to talkSPORT, Morison has emerged as an option for the Red Devils as they consider their next appointment.

The 43-year-old has been working as Leicester City’s loans manager since joining the club ahead of the 2026-27 season, overseeing their loan programme and helping to develop academy players.

However, the former Millwall striker has not managed a first team since leaving Sutton United by mutual consent in September 2025.

Steve Morison emerges as leading candidate to replace Colin Kazim-Richards

Crawley are understood to have identified Morison as a leading option as they look to appoint their next manager following Kazim-Richards’ departure.

Morison brings experience across the English football pyramid, having previously taken charge of Cardiff City and Sutton United, as well as spending time in non-league football with Hornchurch.

His most notable managerial spell came at Cardiff, where he was appointed in October 2021 following the dismissal of Mick McCarthy.

Morison spent 11 months in charge of the Bluebirds and enjoyed an encouraging start to his tenure, earning the EFL Championship Manager of the Month award in March 2022.

He was ultimately sacked in September 2022, bringing his time in the Welsh capital to an end.

Former Cardiff City boss has experience across the football pyramid

After leaving Cardiff, Morison moved into non-league management with Hornchurch, where he spent six months in charge.

He helped guide the club to the top of the Isthmian League Premier Division before Sutton United moved to secure his services.

Morison subsequently took charge at Sutton but left the role by mutual consent in September 2025.

His appointment at Leicester City ahead of the 2026-27 campaign marked a move away from first-team management, with his responsibilities focused on the club’s loan system and the progression of young players.

A potential move to Crawley would therefore represent a return to the managerial dugout for the former striker, should the League Two side decide to pursue their interest.

Morison won 20 caps for Wales during his playing career

Before moving into management, Morison enjoyed a lengthy playing career in English football and represented Wales at international level.

The former striker made 20 appearances for his country between 2010 and 2012, scoring once during that period.

His only international goal came in a 2-1 victory over Montenegro in September 2011.

At club level, Morison played for several sides, including Millwall, where he became a familiar figure during his time in English football.

His experience as both a former Wales international and a manager with Championship and lower-league experience could make him an attractive option for Crawley as they assess their next appointment.

For now, Morison’s reported emergence as a leading candidate puts the Leicester City loans manager among the names to watch as Crawley consider who should take charge of the League Two side.
