Briton Ferry and Afan Lido meet at Old Road in the Cymru South on Tuesday (March 19).
Lido did Ferry a favour last Friday by beating title rivals Ammanford. They won 4-2 at the Recreation Ground thanks to a brace from Sean Hanbury, whilst Cat Owens and Ieuan Owen also got in on the action.
Briton Ferry claimed a narrow 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Aber Bluebirds on the same night. Corey Hurford scored a free-kick in the fourth minute of added-on time after the Reds had trailed Aber before Joseph Jones equalised.
Tonight’s match is an opportunity for Briton Ferry to reduce the gap on Llanelli Town. They trail them by five points but this is one of two games in hand that they have on the current league leaders. A win for Ferry would also create a six-point gap between themselves and third-placed Ammanford.
As for Lido, a win tonight would move them above Carmarthen Town and Cambrian & Clydach Vale in to fourth. Their win against Ammanford was their first in three matches.
In the reverse fixture between the two sides, Lido claimed a 3-2 win over Ferry back in September. Chris Jones scored in stoppage time after Luke Bowen had given the visitors the lead.
Ferry’s last league win over Lido came in August 2021. They did beat them in the Nathaniel MG Cup in the 2022/23 campaign, but since then have lost two of their three league games against them.
When does Briton Ferry v Afan Lido kick-off?
The action gets underway at Old Road at 7.30 pm.
