Haverfordwest County have signed a quartet of new players ahead of the 2024/25 Cymru Premier season including a double swoop on Pontypridd United.

Alaric Jones and Greg Walters are returning to West Wales after joining from Cardiff Met and Carmarthen Town respectively. Ben Ahmun and Owain Jones have left relegated Pontypridd United to join the Bluebirds.

He departed in the summer of 2018 for Carmarthen Town, where he has remained ever since. Greg will bring a heap of experience to the Haverfordwest County squad, helping to fill the void left following Kai Whitmore’s departure. The 29-year-old played 18 times for the Old Gold last season and registered two goals and an assist.

“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to return to my hometown club,” said Walters. Hopefully I can help the team achieve success this season.

“The club has great ambition, and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the boys and being a part of it.”

Another confirmed arrival is attacking midfielder Owain Jones from Pontypridd. He has spent the last two seasons playing at the USW Sport Park and moves on from the Rhondda Cyon-Taf club after their relegation.

The former Swansea City academy and Wales U21 player has penned a one-year deal with Haverfordwest. He has experience with Merthyr Town and was a fan favourite at Aberystwyth Town. Jones appeared 39 times for Pontypridd United and registered eight goals.

Upon signing for the club, Owain said: “I’m really excited to be joining a club that has gone from strength to strength since being back in the league.

“Also, to work under Pens again was an absolute no brainer for me.”

Striker Ben Ahmun has followed Owain Jones to Pontypridd and signed a one-year deal. The 32-year-old is a two-time Wales C international and has 28 goals and 11 assists in 98 Cymru Premier games.

“Ben brings a different dimension to our talented attacking options,” said manager Tony Pennock to the official club website.

“He is a player with vast experience in our league.

“To be able to sign a current Wales ‘C’ player is testament to our club, as I know how many other clubs in our league were keen to sign Ben.

“Again, his experience will be a big asset to our youngsters next season.”

Returning to the club after two years away is defender Alaric Jones. Alaric remains the youngest-ever player to sign a professional contract for the club. He penned his first deal at just 16 years and three months old in the summer of 2017.

He went on to join Cardiff Metropolitan in 2022 and made 21 appearances for the Archers during his debut campaign, however, injury kept him on the sidelines for the entirety of the 2023/24 season.

Tony Pennock said: “Having known Alaric since he was nine, playing in the same Academy team at Swansea City as Dan Hawkins and my son, he is always a player I’ve admired.
