The Ardal South West looks set to be one of the hardest divisions to predict once again. With no teams relegated from the Cymru South, three promoted sides joining the league, and one club switching from the South East to the South West, the competition promises to be as competitive as ever.
The Ardal Southern committee has released the opening fixtures, with an all-Cardiff clash between Canton and Cardiff Corinthians among the standout matches. Canton return to the South West after spending the past three seasons in the South East.
Port Talbot Town secured promotion after winning the South Wales Premier League title convincingly and are joined by runners-up Penydarren. Rockspur Fords won the West Wales Premier League but were unable to meet the Tier 3 ground criteria, meaning Mumbles Rangers take their place in the division instead.
The bookmakers have already priced up the title race, with few surprises among the favourites and outsiders.

Back-to-back title wins for Port Talbot Town?
In fairness, you only have to look at the South East, where Caerphilly Athletic, who were in the same division as Port Talbot just a couple of years ago, won promotion at the expense of the Steelmen, who are now in the Cymru South.
It’s still early days, with just one new face through the door. Lewis Brooks has arrived from Pure Swansea, but Ryan knows exactly what it takes to build a promotion-winning side. During his time at nearby rivals Trefelin, he guided them up the leagues and, when the competition was known as the Welsh League Division One, led them to an unbeaten run of 20 matches before they were crowned champions on a points-per-game basis. It would be great to see Port Talbot return to where they once were, because everyone loves a comeback story.
Tipped to challenge them for the title are Penrhiwceiber Rangers, who narrowly missed out on a play-off place last season. They were edged out by eventual champions Pontardawe Town, who successfully negotiated a demanding run of fixtures in quick succession. Penrhiwceiber know what it takes to win this division, having lifted the title in 2024.
Morriston Town should also be in the mix. They finished sixth last season but would have ended a place higher had they not been handed a six-point deduction. Evans & Williams are another side expected to be among the contenders.
Relegation battle
Seven Sisters Onllwyn were handed a reprieve the season before last but clearly learned their lesson, enjoying a much-improved campaign to finish ninth last term. They share the bookmakers’ odds with Clydach, who ended the season in 13th, and Llwydcoed, who finished 10th, as the three teams currently predicted to go down.
Taffs Well are being tipped to avoid the bottom three, albeit only just. However, you would expect a much stronger campaign from the Wellmen this time around under the guidance of Mark Dunford. He enjoyed success with Trethomas Bluebirds at this level and higher, and his experience could prove vital in steering Taffs Well clear of trouble.
