‘Faith’ – Trefelin’s message ahead of Cymru Premier test with Caernarfon Town

Trefelin take on Caernarfon Town in the Cymru Premier on Friday night, with the newly promoted side still searching for their first goal and points of the season.
It has been a baptism of fire for Trefelin in their first-ever season in the Cymru Premier. Three games into the campaign, they remain without a win or a goal, but manager Andy Hill is under no illusion about the size of the challenge facing his side.
Caernarfon have taken six points from their opening three games, beating Connah’s Quay Nomads and Colwyn Bay, while suffering defeat to Penybont.
“It’s going to be a tough game,” said Hill. “We know they play football and keep the ball really well. They’ve got a real physical threat as well.”

“Connah’s Quay were levels above us.”
After finishing as champions of the Cymru South last season, having lost just twice all campaign, Trefelin are finding the step up to the Cymru Premier a difficult adjustment.
The newly promoted side have lost all three of their opening games without scoring, including a heavy defeat to Connah’s Quay last weekend.
“We played Connah’s Quay last week; they were levels above us,” Hill admitted.
However, Trefelin are taking a long-term view as they look to adapt to life in the Cymru Premier and secure their top-flight status. They currently sit bottom of the table, but Hill knows where his side’s focus needs to be.
“We know where our fight is; it’s down the bottom. The teams in and around us are where we need to pick points up from.”

Trefelin ready for Cymru Premier test against Caernarfon
The players and manager appear to be pulling in the same direction despite Trefelin’s difficult start to life in the Cymru Premier, with captain Jordan Davies confident the squad can turn their fortunes around. The skipper is also not allowing the prospect of a Caernarfon side that qualified for Europe last season to intimidate the group.
“I’m confident in the group we’ve got and the management that we will come good; we are trying to keep everyone positive and just to keep going.”
“We will make it as difficult as we can; it’s going to be another difficult game, but one to look forward to.”
Manager Andy Hill is also calling on the Trefelin supporters to stick with the side as they look to navigate the early stages of their first Cymru Premier campaign. With a run of fixtures on the horizon that could provide more opportunities to pick up points, Hill believes the key is to remain patient.
“Keep the faith. It’s the same message as what we’ve got in our camp with a group of players, because we know we’ve got to get through Friday and then our season starts.”
The fixture kicks off at 7:45 on Friday evening at Ynys Park, with Trefelin looking to put their faltering start behind them as they aim to stay in the Cymru Premier this season.
