Cymru Premier attendance table shows huge gap between clubs as two teams break 1,200 average

There is a huge difference in average attendances across the Cymru Premier, with one club attracting more than four times as many supporters as another, according to the latest figures.
Caernarfon Town sit top of the attendance table with an average crowd of 1,266, while Colwyn Bay are close behind on 1,219.
At the other end of the table, Connah’s Quay Nomads have an average attendance of just 297, meaning the gap between the league’s highest and lowest figures stands at 969 supporters per game.
The figures provide an interesting snapshot of where supporters are turning out in numbers across the Cymru Premier, with several clubs outside the traditional biggest names recording strong average crowds.
Caernarfon and Colwyn Bay lead the way
Caernarfon Town’s average attendance of 1,266 puts them comfortably at the top of the table.
Colwyn Bay are only 47 supporters behind them, with an average crowd of 1,219.
That means the two leading clubs are operating at a noticeably different level in terms of regular home support compared with much of the rest of the division.
Briton Ferry Llansawel are third with an average of 836, followed by Cambrian United on 817.
Barry Town United complete the top five with an average crowd of 712.

The average Cymru Premier crowd is 637
Across the 16 clubs listed, the combined average works out at 636.5 supporters per match, or around 637 when rounded to the nearest whole number.
That figure also highlights how much the top end of the table is lifting the overall average.
Only five clubs have average attendances above 700, while eight clubs are below the overall mean of 636.5.
Caernarfon’s figure of 1,266 is almost exactly double the league-wide average.
Colwyn Bay are also well above it, while Briton Ferry Llansawel and Cambrian United are the other clubs to break the 800 mark.
At the other end, six clubs have averages below 500.
Where the biggest gaps appear
The difference between first and last is particularly striking.
Caernarfon Town’s average of 1,266 is 969 higher than Connah’s Quay Nomads’ figure of 297. Put another way, Caernarfon are averaging more than four times the attendance recorded by Connah’s Quay.
There is also a sharp drop after the leading pair.
The gap between Colwyn Bay in second and Briton Ferry Llansawel in third is 383 supporters, despite the two clubs occupying neighbouring positions in the table.
Further down, the figures become much more tightly packed.
Ammanford, Trefelin and Llandudno are separated by just 11 supporters, with averages of 568, 566 and 557 respectively.
There is another close group towards the bottom, with The New Saints on 398, Airbus UK Broughton on 339 and Cardiff Met on 316.
What the figures tell us about Welsh football crowds
The numbers suggest there is no simple relationship between a club’s name, status or league position and the size of its home crowds.
The strongest average belongs to Caernarfon, while Colwyn Bay are also attracting more than 1,200 supporters per game.
Meanwhile, The New Saints, the most successful club in Welsh football, appear 13th in this particular attendance table, with an average of 398.
It is also notable that clubs such as Briton Ferry Llansawel and Cambrian United sit inside the top four for average attendance in the figures provided.
Overall, the 16 clubs combine for an average of 636.5 supporters per game, but the distribution is uneven. The leading clubs are attracting crowds well above that figure, while a sizeable group are recording averages below 500.
For Welsh football, the attendance picture therefore offers a useful measure of the different levels of support being generated around the country, from more than 1,200 fans per match at the top end to fewer than 300 at the bottom.
