Penybont forward Clarke has revealed her ambitions for the season after making a dream start to life back at the club with a first-half hat-trick.

The 19-year-old struck three times before the break as Penybont opened their Adran South campaign with a 5-3 victory over newly promoted Cambrian United.

Mae Taylor and Mikaela Hood were also on the scoresheet for the Bont, with Clarke turning provider for Hood in the second half to cap an outstanding individual display.

The result gives Clarke an early platform to build on after returning to Penybont following her time with Swansea City Under-19s.

Clarke makes immediate impact after Swansea City move

Clarke was Penybont’s first signing of the summer after making the move from Swansea, where she had enjoyed an impressive campaign at Under-19 level.

She scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 13 appearances for the Swans last season, while also making an appearance for Swansea’s first team during the 2024/25 campaign.

The teenager had previously been on the books at Barry before beginning her football journey with Penybont at youth level.

Her return to the club therefore represents something of a homecoming, and she was delighted to make such an immediate impression on her senior debut.

“It’s great to be back where it all started,” Clarke told the club’s media team.

“Making my senior debut Sunday was an amazing experience, and scoring the hat-trick and providing an assist was a great start, and I’m looking to build on that.”

Hat-trick hero reveals what she wants to achieve this season

Clarke is now hoping her spectacular opening-day performance can be the beginning of a productive campaign for both herself and Penybont.

The forward wants to continue contributing in front of goal while helping the Bont challenge for honours.

“For the rest of the season, I want to contribute for the team with more goals and assists, help us achieve our goals and targets and hopefully get our hands on some silverware,” she said.

“I’m excited for what’s ahead and confident that we can have a successful season.”

Penybont will now turn their attention to the Adran Trophy, with Cascade the visitors on October 4.

Penybont face Cascade twice as cup challenges take shape

The upcoming meeting with Cascade is a straight shoot-out for progression, with both sides currently among the leading teams in their group.

Penybont sit third, while Cascade are second, and Cwmbran Celtic have already secured their place in the next round after winning both of their matches.

Cwmbran Celtic will face bottom side Pure Swansea in their final group fixture.

Penybont have also discovered their second qualifying-round opponents in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, with Cascade once again standing in their way.

The two sides will meet at Penybont on October 18.

Cascade made a major statement on the opening weekend, beating relegated Pontypridd United 9-2.

Pontypridd had dropped out of the Adran Premier, making Cascade’s emphatic victory an early indication of the challenge Penybont could face when the sides meet again.

For Clarke, though, the focus will be on building on a remarkable debut and helping Penybont turn their promising start into a season that could ultimately deliver silverware.
