Ardal Leagues attendances: Storm Boelo hits Welsh football as games are postponed across North and South Wales

Storm Boelo may have played a part in lower attendances across the Ardal Leagues this weekend, with several fixtures postponed and supporters left waiting for updates on matches across Wales.

The weekend of October 23-24 featured a mixture of league action and Ardal South League Cup fixtures, with the southern divisions seeing a number of teams competing in cup ties rather than their usual league schedule.

Several matches in the Ardal North East, North West and South East were also called off, leaving a reduced programme of fixtures for supporters to attend.

Despite the disruption, there were still some notable crowds across the three leagues, with Radnor Valley recording the highest confirmed attendance of the weekend.

Radnor Valley record the biggest Ardal Leagues attendance of the weekend

Radnor Valley attracted a crowd of 226 for their match against Knighton Town in the Ardal North East on Saturday, comfortably the highest confirmed attendance across the weekend’s fixtures.

The match was one of the standout attendances in a weekend affected by the weather, with the 226 supporters well clear of the next-highest confirmed crowd.

In the Ardal Leagues South Cup, Penrhiwceiber Rangers welcomed 152 supporters for their Friday-night match against Taffs Well, while Cardiff Airport’s fixture against Ynysygerwn in the Ardal South West attracted 100.

Penydarren’s cup tie against Caldicot Town also passed the 100 mark, with 101 supporters attending on Friday.

Ardal North East attendances

The Ardal Leagues North East had a handful of fixtures go ahead on Saturday, although several attendances remained unconfirmed.

Radnor Valley v Knighton Town was the division’s standout fixture for crowd numbers, while Kerry’s match against Corwen attracted 62 supporters.

Llanrhaeadr’s game against Builth Wells and Penycae’s meeting with Carno both recorded attendances of 41.

A number of southern sides were involved in Ardal South League Cup action, meaning the weekend’s fixtures did not follow a straightforward league schedule.

Penrhiwceiber Rangers recorded the biggest confirmed crowd among the cup fixtures, with 152 attending their Friday-night match against Taffs Well.

Penydarren v Caldicot Town attracted 101 supporters, while Saturday’s Cwmbran Town v Mumbles Rangers fixture drew a crowd of 55. Undy v Llwydcoed remained without a confirmed attendance.

In the Ardal South West, Cardiff Airport’s Friday match against Ynysygerwn attracted 100 supporters. Evans & Williams v Canton on Saturday recorded an attendance of 86.
