Rhyl attract top English Premier League side for friendly

Recently relegated Premier League side Rhyl will host consolidated English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

Belle Vue will play host to a pre-season friendly with the Midlands based side on the 15th July, with a 3pm kick-off after a match was arranged between the two sides.

It is unsure what kind of side the Baggies will bring to North Wales but it will still be a great occasion for Rhyl to host such a club at their ground, with hope of attracting a bumper crowd for this one.

The friendly would allow the Lilywhites to come up against strong opposition and could be an indication of how the season might pan out for them.

Speaking to the Rhyl Journal, Mike Jones spoke on how the friendly will help the club moving forward for the season ahead in the Cymru Alliance.

“Securing high profile opposition such as West Bromwich Albion which is likely to interest supporters, would pay dividends for the promotion campaign we will be looking to launch for next season adding that the high profile pre-season games such as this would help the club’s budget for the coming season.
Since the last day of the season, the many volunteers, who are the real unsung heroes of Rhyl FC, have been busy improving the look and facilities at the ground. This work helps the ground to be maintained as a top class venue and this work helps in attracting high profile opposition to Rhyl for such matches.”

West Bromwich Albion have already organised friendlies against Walsall and Burton Albion, both on the same day on the 26th July.

The club are also expected to compete in the Premier League Asia Trophy, as well as a pre-season training camp in Austria.
