Lilywhites snap up highly-rated duo Downey and Creamer

Rhyl have continued their post-season recruitment charge with the signings of Tom Creamer and Sam Downey.

The pair were announced by the club on Monday and Tuesday on the club’s official website.

Downey arrives at Belle Vue having last played for Evo Stick First Division side Spalding United

He has experience of playing abroad having played for Swedish sides IFK Holmsund and Gallivare Malmbergets.

The club had been tracking Downey for six months and manager Niall McGuiness is delighted to have brought the 23 year-old to the club.

“I feel he will be a massive signing for us moving into the new season.

“Sam is a box to box midfield player with a great engine, his break up play is excellent and he is also a great tackler.

His cleverness and quick passing play, will have a huge impact on our style of play for the season.”

The Lilywhites have also signed Tom Creamer, an 18 year-old who has been playing for English National League Wrexham’s reserve squad.

Speaking to the official Rhyl website, the Whites boss says he’s looking forward to seeing Creamer develop as a player at the club.

“I’m looking forward to working with Tommy and giving him the opportunity to develop as a player at Rhyl.

He is a great lad with a great attitude which will suit our dressing room environment this season.”

They join the club along names like Shelton Payne, James Brewerton and Diego Alvarado.
