Bangor City are now in search of their sixth manager in three seasons, after the departure of Craig Harrison.
Harrison who took the reins from Kevin Nicholson in the summer has joined Welsh Premier League side Connah’s Quay Nomads as a First Team Coach.
Alan Lewer, who managed Southport in the Vanarama National League North last season is the most experienced, as he helps Stephen Vaughan Jnr, in a temporary role.
This leaves Bangor City managerless and points are now raised in the direction of a club, who were only just playing in the Europa League last season.
Despite being one of the favourites for the Cymru Alliance, after being demoted from the Welsh Premier League for failing their domestic licence.
The Citizens are fourteen points off of league leaders Airbus UK Broughton.
Harrison is an experienced name in Welsh football, but the squad hasn’t blended enough, to put together a strong set of results.
Over ten players joined Bangor in the summer, but already legendary Premier League legend Phil Baker has retired from football. Andy Coughlin has also left the club too.
Look to youth?
Dave Cavanagh who worked with Bangor’s Academy may have been the option for the Citizens to go down. But he has joined Gwynedd rivals Caernarfon Town.
The Bangor City Academy have produced a number of players for the Welsh Premier League, maybe not for Bangor themselves, but other clubs.
Being in a lower division, do the club now consider starting afresh and looking to players in the local area, to compete in the second tier.
Experienced Cymru Alliance managers?
After winning promotion last season, Gareth Thomas is hot property in the Cymru Alliance, guiding Conwy Borough to sixth in the league at the moment.
The Tangerines are just a point off of Bangor and have beaten the Citizens this season. Thomas could be an option, considering his experience in the division.
Niall McGuinness is a young manager, who has been working hard at Flint Town United, with his side currently second in the division, the closest to league leaders Airbus UK Broughton.
Across the border?
When Bangor City appointed Ian Dawes, he was managing the youth section at Shrewsbury Town.
Could someone in the English non-league take charge at Bangor? Lewer has experience in managing in those leagues and has previously held a role with Bangor City.
Alun Morgan, who was in charge of Llandudno last season could be an option, after he left his role at Colwyn Bay.
Whatever the appointment made by Bangor City, it needs to be one that they can think for in the long term. Neville Powell was a calm head for Bangor, during his time in charge of the club, but the trend of managers leaving must stop.
