Priestley Farquharson signs new deal with Nomads amidst interest from Belgium

Connah’s Quay defender Priestly Farquharson has signed a new one-year deal with the Nomads.

The news comes after reports the 23-year-old was moving to Belgian side KV Oostende after a data-oriented approach from their American owners.

Farquharson instead reaffirms his position in the Nomads defence after 24 starts for the club last season, that included a Cymru Premier title and a Nathaniel MG Cup victory.

The Englishman joined the Nomads from Hayes and Yeading United in January 2019 and earned Europa League appearances with the Welsh side.

Despite his main defensive duties, Farquharson scored twice in the league last season with strikes against Cefn Druids and Airbus, with his debut coming in a 6-2 win over Caernarfon Town.

With a move away for the former England Beach international looking set, Nomads boss Andy Morrison is delighted with the news that they have managed to reach a deal with the player.

“I’m delighted that Priestley has re-signed,” he said.

“We have been negotiating throughout the summer and we’ve got the deal over the line.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Priestley and watching him become the player I believe he can be.”
