Ryan Giggs targets victory at Wembley

Wales manager Ryan Giggs says he is targeting a victory over the old enemy England at Wembley Stadium this evening.

Giggs spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon ahead of Wales’ trip to Wembley on Thursday.

Amongst the questions, Giggs made it clear throughout that himself and the squad “want to win” against rivals, England.

“We have got great momentum going into the game and we want to keep that up” said Giggs.

Appearing confident Giggs also recognised the challenge England proposed. “It’s not easy – England have quality players and a real strength in depth – they could pick two or three teams”.

With the game being such a big occasion for the fans Giggs was able take into consideration what experience they are missing out on.

“It always captures the imagination, England vs Wales – our fans travelling over the border it would have been an amazing experience, but it is where we’re at.”

Although there are some key players such as Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey unavailable for the big occasion, it’s being seen as an opportunity for others to step up.

“It gives players who maybe haven’t had as many minutes or as many games a chance to show what they can do.”

Even though the game against England is a big occasion both on and off the pitch, Giggs is still keeping one eye on the Nations League games still to come.

“It’s always a big game when we play England but also we’ve got one eye on the Nations League – my priority is to do well in the Nations League.”

Giggs was asked about what this victory would mean to him and the squad and he concluded with “when you play the top rank countries which obviously England are, they’ve got such an array of players to choose from then it would be a massive achievement.”
