Haverfordwest County loanee Danny Williams released by Cardiff City

Cardiff City have announced the release of Haverfordwest County loanee Danny Williams.

Williams joined the club for an undisclosed fee back in January 2019 after his free-scoring form for Haverfordwest impressed the EFL Championship outfits scouts.

He featured for the Under-23s team before a loan move to English non-league outfit Merthyr Town, however, that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This season the 21-year-old made a return to the Bridge Meadow and scored nine goals in 23 appearances for the West Walian outfit in their first season back in the top flight.

In a club statement announcing the list of departures, Cardiff City said: “Our departing Bluebirds will always be welcome here at Cardiff City Stadium and we wish them all the very best for the future.”

Also leaving the one-time FA Cup winners are former Welsh domestic loan pair Daniel Griffiths and Jack Bodenham.

Bodenham, 21, made 13 appearances for The New Saints in the 2018/19 season, earning a Welsh Cup winners medal.

He later had a loan spell with Hereford in the National League North but was unable to force his way into the first team, he did however feature in City’s 3-0 victory over Taffs Well in the Nathaniel MG Cup in December.

Forward Daniel Griffiths, had a loan spell with Penybont last season, scoring five goals in 21 appearances was also amongst the list of departures.

Welshmen Ben Margetson, Ethan Vaughan, Frazer Thomas, Jack Masrani and Ryan Reynolds have also been let go.

There is positive news from a Welsh domestic perspective as Sam Bowen, who was on loan at Barry Town United this season, has been offered a new deal.

George Ratcliffe, also a loanee at the Linnets, will also stay under the guidance of former Wales forward Steve Morison.
