Taylor takes charge as FC Nomads manager

Welsh National League Premier Division side FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay have tonight announced Tom Taylor as their new manager, with last season’s managerial team of Craig Hett and Robbie Dean taking up an interim role as caretakers until Taylor can take up the role in full.

The appointment sees two previous managers brought back to the club but in different fashion, with Taylor a former FC Nomads manager as well as caretaker for their 2-1 win over Saltney Town last week.

Craig Hett and Robbie Dean were meanwhile FC Nomads’ management team last year, leading the club to a would-be promotion to the Cymru Alliance, with a licensing technicality forcing the club to stay in the third tier for the 2016/17 season.

In an official statement, the club said:

Today we managed to secure the services of two previous managers, in different capacities.

Taking the helm at the club is former Nomads and Buckley chief Tom Taylor. Having answered a SOS call last week he helped steer us to victory over local rivals Saltney Town. The club are delighted to have got their man and hope that he can replicate his past achievements at the club.

The appointment has a bit of a twist to it, with Tom having prior engagements up until Christmas time. Stepping into the breach is last year’s management team of Craig Hett and Robbie Dean as we look to stabilise the club in such a crucial period of the season.

Tom went on record saying that the team Andrew Dutton has left has quality throughout, and was very impressed with Saturday’s account of themselves:

“Having spoken to Craig in length, who I have a very close relationship with in and out of football we came up with the perfect solution.

Craig worked with me when I was at the club, and last year him and Deany won this league, so fit wise there was no one better suited to helping me. Arriving in time for last week’s fixture was Andrew Swarbrick and there will be more announcements in the coming days!

We as a club know we have a challenge to over haul the points we are behind currently, but me and Craig look forward to this challenge!”
