Nine from Nomads up for international duty

gap Connah’s Quay Nomads have had nine of their youth players selected for Welsh international duty.

A host of regular players in the club’s Under 19s / development squad will face Australia whilst representing Wales Colleges U19s.

Jake Van Schie, Callum Cross, recent FC Nomads signing Jake Leonard, Iwan Rogers and Jake Jones are all included in the squad this coming Wednesday at Cardiff Met’s Cyncoed Campus ground.

Wales Colleges’ U18 side have a home nations clash against England on 2 February, and will play in the Rome-based Caput Mundi Tournament. For these fixtures, they’ve selected joint Nomads and Coleg Cambria scholars Conor Harwood, George Coulton, Joe Sullivan and Sam Haddon with team mate Craig Chisholm on standby to join them.

With nine players selected, Nomads will be the best-represented Welsh club at Wales’ international level in a landmark achievement for the Deeside-based club’s expansive youth programme.

Since its inception, the academy has seen 28 players graduate to professional football clubs.
