New Brighton Villa pull off coup signing in Danny Barlow

Welsh National League Division One side New Brighton Villa are celebrating a marquee signing in this January transfer window.

Striker Danny Barlow has joined the yellows for a second spell at the club, joining them from Welsh National League Premier Division leaders Brickfield Rangers.

The move is a significant one for New Brighton Villa, who have recruited Barlow to add experience to their relatively young but capable squad which are currently sixth in Division One, the fourth tier of football in North Wales.

Barlow is a dynamic marksman who has spent time at a number of clubs including FC Nomads, Penyffordd, Argoed United, Hawarden Rangers, Mold Alexandra.

He will pair up with fellow striker and recent NBV signing Paul Rambaldi, as manager Dave Roberts seeks to use their experience to progress the side’s solid performances in the league.

Manager Dave Roberts  said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Danny to the club. He is another player I’ve had the pleasure of playing alongside and I’m excited to work with him again and cannot wait for the goals that he will inevitably score from the chances we create as a team. I consider this a massive coup for the club and I’m confident Danny can fire in the goals to help us climb the table!”.

Speaking to Y Clwb Pel Droed, Barlow spoke of his excitement to be returning to the club where he originally started his career.

“I’m 30 now and no spring chicken so with work commitments it’s hard to put the time and effort required to play for a club like Brickfield challenging for promotion to the Cymru Alliance so I decided returning to where it all started was perfect for me.

I want to help New Brighton progress to the level they deserve to be at and with a young squad I hope I can add a bit of experience back playing with some old friends.

“Playing for Dave was an important factor as he’s someone I’ve worked with before so I’m looking forward to the challenge! Thanks to Brickfield for my time there and best of luck for the rest of the season but now I’m focusing on pushing on at NBV for the next few seasons!”

Barlow is expected to join the squad for this Saturday’s home league cup clash against Llangollen Town, at the Estadio De Mark Lopez for a 1:30pm kick off.
