Latham Park to host FAW Trophy Semi-Final double header

Latham Park

Latham Park, the home of Newtown AFC.

Newtown’s Latham Park will host both FAW Trophy semi-finals on 16th March, as the four remaining sides vie for a place in the final.

Pontardawe Town, Bodedern, Cefn Albion and STM Sports will all head to the ground of JD Welsh Premier League outfit Newtown in the middle of next month to compete for a place in the final.

The FAW have announced that both semi-finals will take place on one day at the ground in Mid Wales.

Cefn Albion will face STM Sports in the first semi-final of the day, with the two sides kicking off at 1pm, before Pontardawe Town do battle with Bodedern at 4:30pm on the 3G surface.

All four sides will fancy their chances in the competition, considering that all four sides play in the third tier of their respective side of the pyramid.

Pontardawe defeated Plas Madoc 4-2 in the last round, whilst STM overcame Penydarren BGC 2-1 in an all South Wales clash to reach this stage of the competition.

Whilst Cefn Albion came out on top in a 5-3 victory over Corwen, whilst Bodedern secured their place in the semi-final thanks to a 1-0 away win over Llangefni Town.

The four sides will now face off in Mid Wales, as we await to discover whether this year’s competition will be an all South Wales or all North Wales final and to claim the trophy from last year’s victors Conwy Borough.
