Llangefni Town have been promoted to the FAW Championship after beating Anglesey rivals Bodedern Athletic.

Chris Roberts’ side went into a final day shootout with Bodedern but held a much higher goal difference over their opponents. In the end, Llangefni ran out 2-0 winners after goals from Kev Lloyd and Mathew Jones.

Their promotion depends on whether they have a successful outcome of their Two Two Licence application.

Cefni were awarded licence last season but lost out on promotion to league winners Conwy Borough.

This season though, Llangefni won the title by six points, having won 21 games out of a possible 28, drawing four and losing just three times.

Congratulations to @chrisbach04 and his @LlangefniTownFC team on their Welsh Alliance title win tonight. A great club with fantastic people throughout, so well deserved🏆 @AngleseyScMedia @TIWFOfficial @welshfootie @WelshAlliance2 pic.twitter.com/w4oS236q0o— Gareth Jones /// (@jonesibfc) May 1, 2019

They also reached Round Four of the Welsh Cup, having knocked out former Welsh Premier League winners Llanelli. They were knocked out in the next round by Llandudno.

They last played in the second tier of Welsh football in 2012, where they were relegated from the Cymru Alliance, finishing 15th.

Llangefni were formerly in the Welsh Premier League in 200 but were also relegated then.
