Colwyn Bay continue to make additions since return to Welsh football

Colwyn Bay have continued to add to their squad following their return to Welsh football.

A total of four new players have joinedthe club after they announced the addition of Wales C international Toby Jones.

Damien Ketley, Joe Chaplin, Mitch Bryant and Sion Edwards have all joined the Seasiders in as many days.

Alex Downes has also committed his future to the club, following his release by Vanarama National League North side Chester.

Damien Ketley joins the club having previously been part of the Reserves. He has since gone on to play in the Welsh Premier League and Huw’s Gray Alliance.

Chaplin joins having been a part of Airbus UK Broughton’s title winning squad. He is the second forward to leave the Wingmakers, following Asa Hamilton’s announcement that he will seek a new club this summer.

Mitch Bryant joins from Runcorn Linnets, in who Bay will play a pre-season friendly against. A former professional with Reading, the 28-year-old has been at a number of clubs in the English non-league scene, including Basingstoke Town and Gloucester City.

Bay manager Hogg commented to ColwynBayFC.co.uk, saying: “”We are very pleased to have agreed terms with Mitch, who is a player myself and Neil have seen play on a number of occasions during the past season and is someone we have been really impressed by.”

Edwards joins Colwyn Bay having played for Porthmadog last season, where he scored 5 goals in 25 games.

Porthmadog manager Sion Eifion commented on Edwards’ departure from the club to PorthmadogFC.com: “To lose Sion is obviously a disappointment but we fully understand and respect his personal decision. He’s been great for the club over the past two years and wish him well going forward.”

Upon his departure, Edwards said: “I’d like to thank everyone at the club for being so good to me over the last 18 months . Been a pleasure playing for this brilliant club.”

Five players have gone through the exit door at Llanelian Road as Colwyn Bay prepare to embark on an historic campaign next season.

James Ellison has left the club to join Marine, whilst Astley Mulholland and James Barrigan have left the club. Blake Robinson has also departed as he looks to join a club closer to his Crewe home. Wales Futsal international Craig Pritchard has also left as looks set to play in New Zealand after considering an offer.
