Flintshire-based Rhydymwyn FC have been handed promotion from the Welsh National League Division One to the Premier Division just five days before the season begins.
The club will now entertain the likes of Queens Park, Plas Madoc, and Mold Alexandra at its Mornflake Mighty Oats ground despite its first team having only spent one season together.
The promotion comes after their application to become a third-tier club was accepted following the folding of FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay, leaving a vacancy in the Premier Division.
The news makes the club’s dramatic finish to the season all the more sweeter, as they needed to win 10-0 on the final day of the campaign to finish third and be within a chance of technical promotion.
And they did just that, with player-coach Anthony Weaver grabbing the 10th in injury time.
The club will now kick off their season at home against local rivals Mold Alex on Tuesday 13 August for a 6:30pm kick off.
