Cardiff City: Iain Darbyshire makes five additions to Bluebirds squad

Cardiff City have announced the signing of five players for next season.

Ellisia Cartwright, 20, returns to Cardiff City following a three-year spell away from the Bluebirds.

Defender Cartwright rejoins from Coed Duon Dragons after helping them win promotion last season.

“Everything’s looking good and positive, the coaches are amazing and developing even more as a player is exciting.”

Wales Under-17s international Jasmine Simpson is among the new arrivals, alongside Carys Pinchard.

Abergavenny Town forward Kate Jeremiah and Cyncoed’s Sophie Norman also join Iain Derbyshire’s team.

Former Abergavenny Town player Jeremiah, 25, joins Cardiff having earned the Golden Boot with her former club last season.

“It’s really good to be at Cardiff City and obviously moving from Abergavenny wasn’t an easy decision for me to make,” said Jeremiah.

“I felt it was the right time for me to move on and give myself a new challenge and I feel Cardiff is the right team for me to do that with.”

Norman, 17, joins from Cyncoed Ladies having represented Wales at Under-17 and Under-19 level.

“It feels great to actually play for Cardiff City and to make new friends and teammates and we’ll hopefully go on to win some trophies this season.”

Utility midfielder, Carys Pinchard, 18, joins from Welsh Women’s League side Caldicot Town.

“It’s amazing to be playing for City and it’s a really good standard, so it’s nice to play and train at a high level,” said the central midfielder.

Jasmine Simpson, 17, returns to the Welsh Premier Women’s League, having previously featured for Cardiff Metropolitan.

Simpson joins from Cardiff City Ladies, having represented Wales at Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 level.

The ex Archer said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to have the opportunity to play for the Bluebirds and I just can’t wait for the season to start, go out there and do what I do best like scoring goals.”
